PAT - Portable Appliance Testing
In-service Inspection & Testing of
Electrical Equipment
(as defined by IET/IEE and City and
Guilds).
Workers who need to use portable electrical appliances must be protected by Electricity Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations, which state that the appliance must be safe to prevent harm. Many types of equipment require testing at regular intervals to ensure continual safety; the interval between tests depending on both the type of appliance and the environment it is used in.
Evidence of testing has to be clearly visible to workers in the form of 'Passed' , 'Tested For Electrical Safety' and 'Do not use after' labels affixed to various parts of the electrical equipment they use.
We carry out PAT Testing on every item on your business premises that connects to an electricity supply socket.
Failure to comply with the Regulations for Electrical Safety in the Workplace can result in prosecution and possible imprisonment. Costly damages might also be sought by injured parties.
In the event of a fire which is caused by an electrical appliance that has not been PAT Tested, your insurance could become invalid.
Many fires are caused by faulty electrical equipment
